If you follow our blog or you know me then you know that my best friend Dionne has been battling a very rare and aggressive form of breast cancer for the last six months. If you aren’t in the loop on this, Dionne is the amazingly talented photographer of The Shooting Gallery in Rochester Hills. She is the most warm and outgoing person I know and the best friend I could ever hope to have! That’s why when she was diagnosed in September several of our local peers all stepped up and volunteered to donate their time and take over her remaining 2012 weddings. It was a very touching gesture from our local community and lifted a great weight off of her, since her doctors advised her that she should not be working.
We took the last of those dates with Nikki and Dan, who had a truly stunning wedding at the Royal Park Hotel. Nikki and Dan were very sympathetic and understanding of the unusual circumstances and for that I am eternally grateful to them. They welcomed us into one of the most important days of their lives without hesitation, and to me that really said a ton about their character and their compassion for what my dear friend was going through. They were an absolute pleasure to work with, and as it turned out Dan and I went to the same high school – his twin brothers were in my class. Their wedding was a bit of a high school reunion for me, and that was quite fun as well.
If you’d like to make a donation to support Dionne in her time of need, you can do so here. If you’d like to read my other posts about Dionne you can see them here and here. You can also watch a video that Jamie Honce of Third Street Films put together for us here.
Anyways, Nikki and Dan – I hope you like the images and thank you so much for allowing us to be a part of your day! I’ll get some more vendor info up as soon as I get it.
